Premier Technology will hire 30 in Blackfoot expansion
Idaho Business Review Thursday, May 28, 2009
Premier Technology Inc. will fill 30 craft and production jobs for a planned expansion at its Blackfoot plant in the coming weeks.
The Idaho Department of Labor is helping the eastern Idaho high-tech company, one of the state's fastest-growing, with recruitment, according to a news release.
Premier manufactures equipment for the food, medical, pharmaceutical and nuclear industries at plants in Twin Falls, Blackfoot and Pocatello. The company designs, engineers and fabricates pressure vessels and shielded boxes, barriers and containers for customers around the world.
The company has doubled payroll from 175 to 350 since opening its corporate headquarters in Blackfoot two-and-a-half years ago.
Last year, Premier announced plans to double the size of its 24,000-square-foot Pocatello plant and add 100 workers. This winter, the company revealed that it wanted to build a plant that would employ 25 to 50 workers in Mackay, a town of 566 between Challis and Arco, with the help of a $500,000 Rural Community Block Grant through the Idaho Department of Commerce.
"Premier is strongly committed to continued investment in our people, in the regional economy and in our great state of Idaho," said President Doug Sayer in a statement. "While it is easy to invest during good economic times, we are making this commitment to grow during this most challenging of economic times as well."
The company also unveiled the formation of a construction management division earlier this year to handle everything from project planning, budgeting and cost control to personnel management, site safety and construction contracting for large-scale projects.
