Blackfoot Sees New Development

The face of Blackfoot changes every couple of weeks, and you may have noticed all the construction and new developments happening around town.
At every reach of town in Blackfoot and everywhere in between, you can see it: new buildings going up, older building getting torn down and new subdivisions going in.
To the west, just off Interstate 15, there's a new Chevron station being built. It will have an A&W restaurant attached, along with a new carwash.
Many folks might wonder what that giant new building is next to Bingham Memorial Hospital. It's going to be a 44,000 square foot physician's office building.
Riverside Plaza will get face lift that will not only bring it up to code, but will also bring in new stores, including a new clothing store.
Blackfoot City Building Planner Rex Orgill says he thinks the city's increase in growth can be attributed to three main reasons: the quality of life, including greater space and a more laid-back work environment, the close proximity to I-15 and the strong economy in Southeast Idaho.
The name of that clothing store hasn't been released yet, since they haven't taken out the building permits, but Local News 8's Karole Honas, who is from Blackfoot, has heard that the name of the store is Peebles, which is similar to a JC Penny.
